Screen printing at Sonsoles

Since January I've been joining workshop and open access sessions at Sonsoles Print Studio who awarded me their inaugural print prize at the Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair last year. I've been using sketchbook and digital studies from my Mexico digital postcards, Great Dixter diaries, and Dumfries House print residency along with digital collages made in my home studio as inspiration for my prints.
At the moment I'm continually moving between digital and traditional media. So this image of my Alan Caiger Smith soup tureen started as a digital study and has then worked wonderfully as a screen print.
Amongst basic screen printing techniques I've been learning how to make screen printed mono-prints by painting directly onto the screen. Yep, wielding a brush! Beautiful pottery inspiring new techniques for me.

Digital drawing at Dixter
In a separate Alan Caiger Smith fandom moment I'm also delighted to share that my digital drawing of one of the teapots in Great Dixter's collection has been featured in this year's Great Dixter Journal.
I've also been developing my original en plein air sketchbook studies into digital collages involving making more imaginative or topographical narratives by combining images made in traditional media with digital drawing.
Ongoing drawings from the gardens and work in the studio using the studies can be seen on my Dixter diaries page.

RDS and ODDY events
This March, I joined fellow alumni from the Royal Drawing School's community of Online Drawing Development Year to exhibit a few pieces in an online showcase called STUDIOS 2025. Thanks to the STUDIOS organisers Liza and Cynthia for bringing the showcase together.

Wishing the Royal Drawing School a very happy 25th birthday!
This year, the Royal Drawing School celebrates its 25th year with an exhibition of prominent artists showcasing the role of drawing in their work. "The Power of Drawing: Marking 25 Years of the Royal Drawing School' runs from 1 July 2025 – 26 July 2025.
I'm grateful to ODDY alumni and to the Royal Drawing School for ongoing opportunities to connect and meet with likeminded artists.
