About the portfolio
About my work
Drawings
I primarily make en plein air observational drawings, using graphite and resulting in images of organic forms. Back in the studio, recent work includes the use of collagraphic blocks to create graphite imprints that I also draw into.
Printmaking
I have taken various printmaking courses at the Royal Drawing School in a variety of methods. My Tetrapak print Man with a brush, is still being used as an example in the Printmaking at Home course.
During lockdown, I taught myself the reduction linocut technique and make linocut editions (of 6-12 prints).
Digital drawing
Digital images are created en plein air using iPad Air and Apple Pencil with Procreate. This has introduced more colour into my drawing and analogue/digital collage to my practice.
Painting and other media
I've recently made some inroads into painting using watercolour and oils. I've also been experimenting with animation which I have found has brought unexpected benefits to my drawing.
