Wish you were here? Madeira 2025
We’ve been catching some winter rays and dodging raindrops in Madeira which means that you’re overdue a few digital postcards of sea views and random hotel paraphernalia.
These digital postcards are slightly longer, more sustained drawings that were made with Procreate on my Apple iPad Air with an Apple Pencil.
Our 5th floor balcony teeters into the ocean over the beach club bar shack where we drink cider with tempura seafood. The weather is changeable and the blinding sunlight is neon lime green in the sucking, stretching waves.
The Contemporary Art Gallery at the head of the bay is worth the steep climb and we have fun in the salons. The next day, the same decline back down to the hotel from our 15km levada walk defeats us and our legs go to jelly.
We don’t eat all the desert fruit but the Madeira wine goes down nicely and the vase is good to draw.
In the hotel lobby we avoid a downpour and then wait for a taxi to the airport where we are slightly delayed. We find an exit.
