Digital postcards from the rooms with some amazing views along our honeymoon route.
Created with Pocket Procreate on an Apple iPhone with a basic stylus which is quite challenging when compared to digitally drawing on an iPad with an Apple pencil - but portable and quick to do when on a busy schedule.
First landing in Johannesburg and travelling along the Garden route to Cape Town. A weaver bird swings on a palm whilst building its nest right outside our room in Port Elizabeth. Evening light as the rigging clanks against the masts of the yachts in Knysna harbour. A quick moment to capture the thatched dwellings in Arniston Bay before heading along the coast to watch whales at Hermanus Bay.
Arriving in Cape Town, our harbourside view from the V&A waterfront looks across the hotel roof to the port traffic in the bay.
Leaving Cape Town by rail we travelled north over three nights to Pretoria, passing through Matjeisfontein and Kimberley with the De Beers diamond mine Big Hole. On the train there was time to relax and watch the world go by, digitally draw the views, whilst Lou was sleeping.
Then we went by air into Zimbabwe and Botswana where the temperature reached 40°C. Safari lodges and thrilling African landscapes are backdrops to amazing sightings on our drives. From our balcony on our last morning, a beautiful sight of the giraffes coming down to the water hole.
