Wish you were here? Marbella 2025
Malaga been there, done that, loved it!
It’s become almost customary for us to leave the UK in early spring. So we headed for Malaga again and then Marbella to see if there was anything new to enjoy under the Spanish sun.
These digital postcards were made on my iPhone with Pocket @procreate and on my @apple iPad Air with an Apple Pencil.
Carbs before (!), during but not after Marbs… promising 🙏
Our spring time walk along the tree lined promenade of the golden mile to Puerto Banús.
In our kooky Marbella hotel, the rooftop views and the weird and wonderful lobby decor are good to draw. The mirrored walls make it difficult to know just how many Greek goddess lamp statues it takes to change a lightbulb?
On Lou’s birthday we’re the only visitors to the glorious Museo del Grabado Español Contemporáneo. Whilst enjoying and scrutinising the experimental use of contemporary printmaking techniques including collagraph, screen print, etching and lino; it’s inspiring to be in the presence of pieces by Miro, Picasso and Cocteau.
Later in the old town we stop in a plaza for a tapas lunch. Is it the influence of the graphic art in the morning, the smaller drawing format or the copious amount of wine that drives the lucidity of my quick digital mobile studies in the afternoon sun?
Back in Malaga by far the highlight of our trip is the Kentridge installation of 'More Sweetly Play the Dance' at the Picasso museum.
...it’s so layered, impactful and moving that we barely bother to look at the main galleries; we’ve done those before.
